The little old man Ryker

Let's just say puppies are a lot like babies.

I have now moved my timeline for having children from 6-8 years to 10-12 years.

Ryker's affinity for hurling himself through the air in order to receive some attention is what first sold me on him. I was hard pressed to find another dog willing to leap over 3 puppies in a dead dive bomb for a pair of shoelaces, and none made me laugh so hard.
(He's sleeping in this picture. Happily, I'd like to add.)

He's slowly learning our weak spots, like cuddling, and using them against us.

Powerless. I'm almost powerless against his wrinkly old man face.

Grok, Grok, Grok.

Setting aside the fact that this picture has nothing to do with what I'm going to blog about, I just thought you should know what happens around here when Husband doesn't take the garbage out.

Ha, just kidding. Husband made it to the championship fight out of 13 guys in his combatives course this week. Do you like the lumpy chin and swollen eye? I find it sort of dashing. I'm just so proud of him I could gush. Oh wait, I am.

Just a few things are changing up (down, I mean) here in AL for us. Not including the fact that we are 7 days away from puppy and have now decided we don't want any of the names on the current poll. But go ahead and vote anyway!

Bye bye Rapunzel...

Ironically, my main thought while putting this post together is- I should get Aquafresh Whitening next time I buy toothpaste.

When you wish upon a star, you can run really far.

I would like to personally take this chance to ask Rick Scott, the current governor of Florida, to use the $8,000 we paid in toll's this past week to contribute to sheltering the homeless. I would feel that our offerings would be much easier to bear in that regard.

But thumbs way up to Disney Princess Half Marathon and Mega Huge Hill Family Reunion at Walt Disney World!

Husband placed 40th out of 1107 men (which means there was 19,000 women), rolling across the finish line with a time of 1:43. That's 1:43, ladies and gents.

That's fast.

We're mostly contributing it to his fairy wings and tutu- which he wore the entire time (thanks Mom).

And I shaved a clean 30 minutes off my half marathon time and came in at 2:14 averaging a 10:12 pace or something like that. Woot woot!

Al...uh...BAM... uh...

What would YOU do if the power was out and you were living Alabama?

I shouldn't even have to ask.

You'd put up your hammock, that's what you do. Don't ask me how I know, because I just do.

By the way, we moved. To Alabama. Where the power is out.

If the pictures look funny it's definitely not my fault because my headlamp was aimed in a weird way.

The house we moved into looks haunted. Truly, it looks haunted, dark, old and scary. Especially in the dark and when it's windy. Sometimes on Tuesdays and always when it's storming. But we yuv it here.

I'm pegging it was born around 1920. We found an advertisement selling it in the 40's, look in the top left corner wery closely.

It has all sorts of cute stuff that I just know Bal would ooze over (try and deny it Bal, I dare you.) Like original-hardwood-floor-complete-with-flimsy-but-cute-old-grates-covering-the-heat-vents-and-small-door-knobs-with-key-holes-kind of things.

Too bad you can't see the cute key shaped key hole here.

And, double bonus- our water heater serves as a second counterspace! (It's on the left, for those of you who don't know).

There's also a spiral-like staircase.

And the yard is a short step away from being declared an official disaster site, complete with benches, a vine created arch and massive backyard. Trust me, you don't want to see the pictures yet. It's a recovery project we're trying to get funded through the government but in the meantime are attempting to patch up ourselves.

I have little hope they'll listen.
But how cool is this? We discovered not a first, not a second, but a THIRD intentional pond in what we call "the Secret Garden."

I'm just awaiting Colin to come teach me how to tell if it's wick or not.

Our only regret is that we won't be living here long enough to see Halloween.

Sigh.

It's a girl!

And she's due January 20th!

We couldn't be more excited. Seriously, we couldn't. It seems a little early in our marriage for such a big commitment but we just know that the time is right and everything will work out for our little family. We're hardly getting any sleep anymore, all we want to do is talk about her. How much fun it will be, how we want to raise her, what to do with the house, how cute she will be...

For names we're thinking Ellie, Mila, or Callie. Don't you think it fits her?

Wait-- you didn't think I was pregnant did you?

HA!

Obviously that peekture is not her. But she's gunna look like that. Actually, knowing our luck, she'll be looking more like this:

(Jordan's dubbed this picture- "Tra la la la la laaaa")

This is what her breed looks like as an adult. They're called Vizsla's (pronounced something akin to Veezshla). Try it in your mirror a few times.

I have no idea how we're going to last until March 17th.... I wasn't kidding-

We stay up and talk about this at night.

I'm still laughing...

Best. Conversation. Ever.

Mother: "So, what kind of dog are you going to get? A male or a female?"
Katie: "I don't know. Probably a male, right? Don't you think, honey?" Looking over at husband, sitting innocently at her side.
Husband: "Is that because you don't want another bitch around the house?"

I publicly congratulate Husband on a job well done.
