Al...uh...BAM... uh...

What would YOU do if the power was out and you were living Alabama?

I shouldn't even have to ask.

You'd put up your hammock, that's what you do. Don't ask me how I know, because I just do.

By the way, we moved. To Alabama. Where the power is out.

If the pictures look funny it's definitely not my fault because my headlamp was aimed in a weird way.

The house we moved into looks haunted. Truly, it looks haunted, dark, old and scary. Especially in the dark and when it's windy. Sometimes on Tuesdays and always when it's storming. But we yuv it here.

I'm pegging it was born around 1920. We found an advertisement selling it in the 40's, look in the top left corner wery closely.

It has all sorts of cute stuff that I just know Bal would ooze over (try and deny it Bal, I dare you.) Like original-hardwood-floor-complete-with-flimsy-but-cute-old-grates-covering-the-heat-vents-and-small-door-knobs-with-key-holes-kind of things.

Too bad you can't see the cute key shaped key hole here.

And, double bonus- our water heater serves as a second counterspace! (It's on the left, for those of you who don't know).

There's also a spiral-like staircase.

And the yard is a short step away from being declared an official disaster site, complete with benches, a vine created arch and massive backyard. Trust me, you don't want to see the pictures yet. It's a recovery project we're trying to get funded through the government but in the meantime are attempting to patch up ourselves.

I have little hope they'll listen.
But how cool is this? We discovered not a first, not a second, but a THIRD intentional pond in what we call "the Secret Garden."

I'm just awaiting Colin to come teach me how to tell if it's wick or not.

Our only regret is that we won't be living here long enough to see Halloween.

Sigh.

  1. Oh how sad! Mainly, because before I read much text I was looking at the pictures thinking to myself that I would REALLY love to walk around that house! And that I love the wall color! Adorable house!

  2. If you are still in Bama in June/July we may just have to come by for a visit.

  4. I'm so jealous! I wish I lived in Alabama again. Enjoy the gorgeous spring (Can I tell you how much I miss wisteria, dogwoods, azaleas and riots of blossoms at every turn?) and the friendly folks and Chuck's BBQ in Opelika! Seriously, you have to eat some for me, I'm craving it.
